About us:
The Martinthi Aboriginal Kinship Care program is a consortium between InComPro Aboriginal Association Inc. and UnitingCare Wesley Bowden.
The Aboriginal Kinship Care program assesses, trains, advocates for and supports both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal kinship carers who care for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children and young people who have been placed in their care by the Department for Child Protection. The Aboriginal Kinship Care program will ensure that carers are well supported to provide care that allows for children and young people to feel safe and supported so that they grow up well cared for, connected to Aboriginal culture, kin, identity and community and empowered to reach their full potential.
About the role:
The Aboriginal Kinship Care Support Worker (AKCSW) is responsible for the delivery of a professional and effective service that contributes to meeting the programs’ goals and objectives.
The AKCSW provides high quality assessment, advocacy, and support of kinship carers, requiring sound judgment skills and exercising considerable expertise in delivering interventions that cater to the diverse needs of kinship carers.
The AKCSW will have a child/young person focused approach, effectively maintain stakeholder relationships, and have exceptional communication skills with staff at all levels.

About you
- Minimum Cert IV or extensive relevant experience
- Current driver’s licence and ability to drive pool vehicles.
- Experience in the out of home care sector
- Experience in working closely with Aboriginal families and communities
- Experience in the use of assessment tools
- Experience in coordinating, developing, and facilitating training programs
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills (written and oral)
- Excellent organisation and time management with the ability to prioritise effectively
Special Conditions:
- Employment is subject to obtaining a Working with Children Check
- Flexibility and willingness to travel and work between locations.
- Out of hours work will be required with on-call allowances.
- Interstate and Intrastate travel as required
