Subject: Refugee Week 19 to 25 June 2022 – Healing
Dear Team
As you may be aware, yesterday marked the start of Refugee Week 2022!
With the theme of Healing, Refugee Week this year is celebrated from 19 – 25 June and provides a time to raise awareness, celebrate, reflect and promote harmony. As you will see in the infographic below, Refugee Week has been celebrated for 36 years in Australia with many people arriving from refugee backgrounds.
Many have found home and settled in the Moreton Bay Region from Syria, Iraq, South Sudanese, Bhutanese/Nepali and Karen communities. Over the years , Council has been working with key partner organisations supporting their settlement in the region.
Check out Our Refugee Stories, an oral history project we worked with Libraries to share some of stories from the region. You can also discover Refugee Stories from people across Australia.
Kind regards
Andrea
