Brisbane City Council is highly committed to the health and wellness of employees and provides a range of wellness services at two modern, well-equipped Wellness Centres located at Green Square and Brisbane Square and providing services to depot gyms.
The wide range of wellness programs and facilities available for council employees, include:
• commercial-grade gym equipment
• lockers and change room/showers
• fully air-conditioned rooms
• a diverse range of group fitness classes
• comprehensive fitness assessment
• personalised exercise program and workout (gym induction)
• nutritional advice
• rehabilitation programs.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated person, passionate about making a difference to wellness and keen to innovate in this space. This challenging role requires you to have driven enthusiasm and a positive approach in advocating ‘wellness’ for all Council employees. No two days are the same when you positively impact people’s lives through the delivery of health coaching, weight management programs and injury prevention workshops.
You will be responsible for managing the safe and professional operation of our Wellness Centres, specifically:
• conducting health and fitness assessments
• prescribing and delivering a range of individual wellness programs, including rehabilitation
• customer focused supervision of members and facilities
• promotion and marketing of services and facilities.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (or equivalent tertiary qualification) and current Senior First Aid and CPR Certification, along with:
• experience in developing and delivering a range of innovative wellness programs and initiatives
• a sound understanding of how to effectively promote wellness programs and initiatives
• excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills
• practical experience as an exercise physiologist.
To be eligible to apply you must meet the below criteria.
For salaried and wages roles, applications for TV6 or temporary vacancies of up to 6 months can be accepted from:
• permanent employees (excluding employees on probation)
• temporary employees who have been employed for a minimum of six months
• people employed as temporary employees through a Community Jobs Program/Work Placement
• casual employees who have had the equivalent of 12 months full-time for salaried roles and 3 months equivalent for wages roles
• agency contractors (i.e. labour hire) who have had the equivalent of 12 months full-time equivalent.
• external applicants for internally advertised Band 2 to 4 vacancies from the Diversity and Inclusion network.
