An opportunity for a Dispatch Officer is available in Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS), Compliance Coordination Unit (CCU) – Schedule and Dispatch Team. The role is based at Green Square, Fortitude Valley.

CCU Dispatch Officers triage incoming requests, schedule and dispatch CARS Officer site attendance by using systems that include:

·         DART

·         2-way radio

·         Officer Deployment Schedules

·         GPS tracking and other council systems such as BrisMAP and Properties on the Web.

This is the role that dispatches direct to our Rapid Response Group (RRG) and Parking Compliance Team. The customer request job types dispatched include:

·         Animal Attacks

·         Illegal Parking

·         Pollution Incidents

·         Reports of Interference to Protected Vegetation (Brisbane’s valuable greenspace).

These are but a few of the 65,000 or so incidents reported to our team every year. This is a fast-paced environment where priorities quickly change – a day could be over in the ‘blink of an eye’.

Key accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

·         Providing effective operational support services to the CARS work units.

·         Identify and appropriately allocate customer request to business areas and/or response crews as guided by Standard Operating Procedures.

·         Provide a customer focused point of contact that triages and dispatches requests using a range of Council systems including, telephone, 2-way radio, email, and information technology systems such as the DART system.

·         Escalate emergency or significant cases to the Schedule and Dispatch Team Leader for direction.

To be successful in this role you will need to possess:

·         Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills to plan, schedule, coordinate and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines in a time imperative environment.

·         Experience in supporting a team in an operational capacity to achieve outcomes and timeframes.

·         High level of proficiency in commonly used computer systems and software.

·         High-level verbal and written communication skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to use relevant Council’s IT systems to extract and utilise data.

To be considered for the role you must be able to work up to 8 hour shifts at various start times between 6am-6pm Monday to Friday. Schedule & Dispatch operate on a flex roster, and based on rostering and business needs, you will have the ability to nominate flex days. In the event of a disaster or other significant incidents, you may be called upon to work extended hours, including weekends.

To be eligible to apply you must meet the following criteria: For salaried roles, applications can be accepted from: permanent employees; temporary employees who have been employed for a minimum of six months; people employed as temporary employees through a Community Jobs Program/Work Placement; casual employees who have had the equivalent of six months full-time employment; and external applicants for internally advertised Band 2 to 4 vacancies from the Indigenous communities and the Disability Community Network (Equity and Diversity Networks). Labour hire (agency contractors) are not eligible to apply for TV6 roles.
