Built Environment Officer – Band 3 or Band 4
Are you customer focussed, with the ability to work well under pressure? Do you have an inquiring mind, great communication skills and a compliance mindset?
The Compliance and Regulatory Services Branch (CARS) contributes to the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane through a range of licensing and best practice regulatory services. We provide services related to environmental health, land use and built environment, animal management, asset use and the natural environment. Our people proudly contribute to enhance the liveability, vibrancy and accessibility of Brisbane.
The Built Environment Team undertakes compliance and assessment of applications associated with unlawful building work, dangerous structures, retaining walls, swimming pool safety (fencing), fire safety and overcrowding in budget and student accommodation, built to boundary structures and walls, house removals, general nuisances associated with storm water runoff and overland flow, unlawful development, non-compliance with development approvals, home-based businesses, interference with heritage or character buildings (unlawful demolition), development in waterways and wetlands, footways and driveways, advertising signs and providing technical advice.
To be successful for this role, you will have:
· strong customer service, negotiation and liaison skills
· demonstrated good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
· the ability to interpret and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, guidelines and standards
· well-developed organisation and time management skills to meet deadlines
· effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills the ability to work autonomously in a high-performing multi-disciplinary team.
NOTE: Shortlisted candidates will need to be available to attend/participate in a few recruitment selection methods. These may include but not limited to online video interviews, psychometric testing, onsite group assessments and face to face or online interviews with the panel. These will be conducted/completed between 24 January 2022 – 4 February 2022.
