Subject: Nurses and paramedics need us
Our hospitals are in crisis, with overwhelmed nurses and paramedics at breaking point and resigning just when we need them most. That’s why we’ve just launched our ‘NurseKeeper’ plan to retain and reward them during the pandemic. Add your name now to support the plan.
Dear RickyI really wish I didn’t have to send this email. You’re probably still on holiday, or easing yourself into the new year and determined to tune out to all-things-politics. But this is an emergency Ricky and I really need your help.
Well actually, our nurses and paramedics do.
Frustrated and exhausted nurses and paramedics are resigning in droves and there are reports that in the coming weeks we could lose even more, right when we need them most.
Meanwhile hospital admissions are yet to peak, but our emergency departments are already overflowing and ambulances are taking hours to respond to 000 calls, leaving critically ill and injured patients having to make their own way to hospital. The government must act now to support our healthcare workers who are on the brink.
Will you sign our petition telling Premier Perrottet and Minister Hazzard to introduce NurseKeeper now
NurseKeeper is our campaign for an immediate $5,000 bonus as well as pandemic pay for all nurses and paramedics working in the NSW public health system, as well as any willing to immediately return. Click here now to add your name if you support our plan.
Our nurses and paramedics are not only exhausted and burnt out because of the unimaginable pressures of the past two years, but their pleas to the NSW Government for better conditions, fair pay and nurse-to-patient ratios continue to be ignored.
In Tweed Hospital alone over the xmas/new year break, 18 emergency department nurses quit because the conditions became unbearable. We haven’t even hit the peak of hospital admissions yet!
If the Government doesn’t immediately take action to retain nurses and paramedics then we will see mass resignations that could break our public healthcare system.
We can’t get through this crisis without our nurses and paramedics. Yet right now they’re at breaking point and are quitting in droves just when we need them most.
It’s time to reward and support our nurses and paramedics. Saying Thank You is Not Enough.
Cate x
PS We need to get the word out about how bad it is for our nurses. Click here to share the post on Facebook and ask your friends to add their names too!
