Good afternoon,

Following the endorsement of the Moree Plains Community Strategic Plan (CSP), its supporting documents-draft Delivery Program 2022-2026, draft Operational Plan and Budget 2022-2023 and draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2022-2032-are on public exhibition and are available for comment until 4 pm on Monday 20 June 2022.

Thank you to everyone who provided input and helped develop our CSP. The supporting documents are Moree Plains Shire Council’s tool for how the goals set in the CSP will be achieved. The documents also list the Council projects and activities that will be delivered and how they will be funded.

What do I need to do?
We’re asking the Moree Plains community to review our draft supporting documents and send through feedback that will help Council improve our delivery.

To find details on making a submission and to view the draft supporting documents, go to our website at https://www.mpsc.nsw.gov.au/hot-topics/submissions-and-public-notices

What are the highlights?
We’re budgeting a surplus of $748,171 in 2022-23. This means Council is in a strong financial position to deliver priority infrastructure projects in the coming years, which are required as part of the Shire’s growth thanks to the Special Activation Precinct and Inland Rail.

A highlight of this year’s budget is $77 m for capital and non-capital projects, this includes $16 m for rural and urban roads; preliminary design work for sewer and drainage improvements in Pallamallawa and a range of community infrastructure improvements in Moree, Mungindi and other villages.

We’ve developed seven Budget Snapshots that breakdown the budget and projects across important areas to the community, including roads, pools, open spaces, community programs and community buildings.

To view the Draft Budget and Snapshots, head to our website at https://www.mpsc.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/1342-draft-operational-plan-and-budget-2022-2023
