Podcast on family violence – challenges facing people from multicultural backgrounds

We were honoured to join in 3 BRIMANK LIVE FM podcasts recently for conversations about family violence and the specific challenges that people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities sometimes face in speaking out and seeking help. Thank you to Brimbank City Council for inviting us to take part in this important discussion.

Cultural respect: It starts with us all

All of us have a role to play in advancing reconciliation, respect and cultural safety in Australia – not only during Reconciliation Week, but all year round.

In our latest blog, we share some suggested actions that individuals and organisations can take throughout the year, and provide links to valuable resources and expert knowledge shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

FREE socks for dads and our recent conference involvement

The recent FRSA and AIFS conferences provided a wonderful opportunity to present and engage in person with professionals from across Australia post-COVID-19.

The Relationships Australia-sponsored information stand, coffee cart and lounge area at the AIFS Conference were well-received and our Support for Fathers socks were the talk of the town.

Who we are and how we can support you: Our new brochure

Our updated service information brochure for clients, professionals and members of the public is now available in a new single-panel format for easier online access.

We also provide our service information in an Easy English format [PDF, 915KB], and printed hard copies of both documents are also available on request.

Teleplay Virtual Wellbeing Rooms

Do you have children aged 0-11 who are struggling with difficult feelings like worry and anxiety, or having trouble sleeping as a result of the East Gippsland bushfires?

We’re pleased to now be offering free play therapy and counselling, delivered online through fun and interactive wellbeing rooms and play spaces.

This service is provided in partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria, with funding support from Gippsland Primary Health Network which is leading the mental health response to bushfire-affected areas of Gippsland.

Neighbour Day – Connecting communities for 20 years

Join us on 27 March and celebrate the 20-year anniversary of Neighbour Day, Relationships Australia’s social connection campaign that seeks to address loneliness across Australia.

Send in your stories of neighbourly connection before 27 February for the chance to win prizes, and read about the many ways (both big and small) that you can get involved in the celebrations.

International Women’s Day 2022

In the lead up to 8 March, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of women worldwide, including the dedicated and hardworking women who make up 78.9 per cent of our organisation.

In our latest blog post, we outline why your relationship status is not a measure of success or an indicator of quality of life, and highlight some of the positives of being single.

We also share our tip sheets on healthy relationships and good communication and a Raising Children Network resource on support for single parents.
