An exciting opportunity exists to join Reform and Support Services (RSS) in the Permanent, full-time position of Manager Criminal Jurisdiction Lead, AO8. The role is based in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, 363 George Street.
Reform and Support Services (RSS)
Reform and Support Services a branch of Court Services Queensland (CSQ), is dedicated to delivering initiatives to support a whole of justice approach to contemporary and accessible courts.
The RSS branch delivers value and support to the courts and judiciary through:
· delivering business transformation activities by exploiting contemporary technologies and practices through a number of strategic digital and IT projects and leading the design and delivery of CSQ business specific information system applications;
· driving and promoting fit-for-purpose portfolio, project and change management practices across key projects and programs that enable quality outcomes and benefits for users and the community;
· contemporary support and service management to staff and the Judiciary including desktop environments, audio-visual and video-conferencing systems and key business applications delivered via diverse technology platforms directing and co-ordinating statistical and analytical services for CSQ, identifying and developing performance improvement opportunities; partnering across government agencies to improve integrated criminal justice service delivery;
· delivery of ;
· capability development for court staff;
· production of quality transcription and recording services;
· instruction on procurement, contract management and budgets.
The Legal, Policy, Procedure and Development (LPPD) unit supports CSQ to provide consistent court operations through the provision of operational legal and policy advice, development of policies and procedures and staff training. LPPD also leads a variety of projects to deliver on Government commitments and departmental priorities.
The role
The Manager, Criminal Jurisdiction will oversee the continuous improvement of registry practice with a focus on Queensland Criminal Courts. This involves overseeing and conducting research, analysis and the development of options and strategies for implementing legislative and policy reforms and business improvement initiatives. It is also responsible for designing and developing clear policies and procedures that guide consistent service delivery across all Court Services Queensland registries.
The role will be a central contact point for Criminal Courts and will collaborate across a range of internal and external networks, and with the judiciary.
The role reports to the Director, LPPD, RSS. The role will provide supervision to others.
The position is based in Brisbane Magistrates Court situated at 363 George Street, Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement complex projects and manage projects through to implementation.
· Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure improvement and success in the Criminal Courts jurisdiction.
· Oversee and conduct internal consultation, research and analysis to provide high level strategic and operational advice on the impacts for Court Services Queensland arising from proposed policy and legislative reforms.
· In collaboration with key internal stakeholders, oversee and develop options and strategies for implementing policy and legislative reforms and business improvement initiatives.
· Prepare and oversee the timely preparation of policies and procedures that can be easily located and understood to guide consistent service delivery across CSQ registries.
· Contribute to ICT reform and ensure courts maximise the potential of their systems to improve service delivery.
· Prepare submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence, answers to parliamentary Questions on Notice and policy advice as required.
· As required, oversee a team, managing workload, professional development, appraise performance and provide feedback (including mentoring and coaching).
· Participate in inter-departmental and inter-agency meetings representing the interests of CSQ.
· Other duties as directed by the Director, LPPD.
