Human Research Ethics Committee

The AH&MRC is seeking Recruitment to the HREC Committee – ACCHS Representative, Elder

Do you want to be part of something meaningful?

Do you want to ensure your Mob has a voice in the research that’s done in your community?

If you answered yes – get in touch with us about joining the AH&MRC Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee has a wide range of passionate Aboriginal people from different communities across New South Wales. We review proposals to undertake research with communities and the committee provides advice to strengthen the cultural capability of these proposals.

Why should I join?
Everyday across New South Wales research is undertaken with Aboriginal people and communities. The AH&MRC aims to see all Aboriginal Health Research led by Aboriginal people and communities. The Ethics Committee is in the position to create change in Aboriginal Health Research and you could be a part of that change.

What would I need to do if I joined?

  • Attend a meetings (six weekly)
  • Read two proposals and provide your comments
  • Help increase the quality of research in NSW

Travel and Accommodation:
The AH&MRC will cover the travel and accommodation costs to attend the meetings.

I don’t have any experience in research, does that matter?
No. As long as you are passionate and committed to your community you will fit in well. The AH&MRC will also provide regular training and you will have a team that will assist you with any queries.

How can I apply?
Get in touch with the Ethics staff at ethics@ahmrc.org.au or phone 02 9212 4777.
