An exciting opportunity exists to join Reform and Support Services (RSS) in the Temporary, flexible full-time position of Senior Data Analyst, AO6 in the Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Teams, Courts Performance and Reporting Unit (CPRU) . The Temporary role is for up to 18 Months with possible extension and based in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

 

  

Reform and Support Services (RSS)

 

Reform and Support Services (RSS), a branch of Court Services Queensland (CSQ), is dedicated to delivering initiatives to support a whole of justice approach to contemporary and accessible courts.

 

The RSS branch delivers value and support to the courts and judiciary through:

 

·         collection of statistical data from various courts systems for evaluation and trend analysis by relevant internal and external stakeholders

·         partnering across government agencies to improve integrated criminal justice services through dedicated projects

·         production of courts policy and procedures including the associated legal advice around applicability of legislative reform to ensure consistency, compliance and risk mitigation

·         training for court staff on courts systems, policies and procedures

·         identification of courts systems issues, testing of solution options and implementation of priority business systems changes

·         creation and maintenance of court website

·         production of quality transcription and recording services

·         provision of dedicated technical support for judiciary including help desk support, audio and visual services for court rooms, and

·         instruction on courts procurement, courts contract engagement process and courts budgets.

The Courts Performance and Reporting Unit (CPRU) directs and co-ordinates statistical and analytical services for the department in relation to Queensland Courts, identifies and develops performance improvement opportunities, and provides specialist advice to executive management, stakeholders and clients on court-related information and issues.

 

The role

 

The position will work as part of a small team that is responsible for implementing a pilot in two Magistrates Court locations that will enable video recorded statements taken by trained police officers to be used as an adult victim’s evidence-in-chief in domestic and family violence related criminal proceedings.

 

You will be expected to identify and collate existing court-related data sources to support the implementation of the pilot, and to identify and develop structured mechanisms to collect new data and information using available tools such as Sharepoint and MS Forms.

You will undertake analysis and reporting of statistical information that supports evidence-based decision making and planning both in relation to the pilot, as well as across CSQ more broadly, and guides the strategic direction of CSQ.

The role will work closely with the Project Manager, LPPD, and operational staff within CSQ, to contribute to the effective implementation and evaluation of the pilot program.

 

This role will report to the Manager, Courts Performance & Reporting Unit.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·         Prepare, collate, analyse, review and disseminate high-quality court related business intelligence information and advice using tools such as SAS, Power BI and Microsoft Excel.

·         Negotiate, develop and/or maintain positive working relationships and networks that facilitate information sharing, access to data, and the appropriate use and interpretation of Court data.

·         Prepare authoritative statistical reports, documents, presentations, executive briefs, publications and correspondence as required.

·         Design and implement business intelligence reports and dashboard analytics to support performance and trend monitoring across CSQ and meet agency reporting requirements.

·         Deliver client focused statistical services that support the efficient and effective operations of CSQ.

·         Assist in the identification and implementation of data and business improvement opportunities to meet the needs of CSQ and to address their future needs and strategic direction.

·         Represent the Department and/or CSQ at relevant meetings/forums as required by the Manager.

·         Ensure outputs satisfy departmental standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles, procedures, policies and methodologies.
