The Oodgeroo Unit is recruiting for a Student Accommodation Program Coordinator. The Student Accommodation Program Coordinator coordinates accommodation and pastoral support for eligible regional and remote Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander students. This includes liaising with the accommodation providers, advocacy for students and providing referrals to other internal/external services as appropriate.

The position will develop strong relationships with the Faculties, QUT agents, partner organisations and other internal/external key stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Organisations, Elders and community members and schools.

 

In addition, the position will play a vital role in promoting the accommodation service and the Oodgeroo Unit more generally.

This appointment will be offered on a fixed-term, full-time basis for three (3) years at the Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point Campus.

 

The classification for this position is Higher Education Worker Level 7 (HEW7), which has an annual remuneration range of $106,988 to $117,034 p.a., which is inclusive of an annual salary range of $90,406 to $98,895 p.a. 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading.

 

The position is open to Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people. For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted by and arguable under sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).

Applications have opened for the NSW Government’s Closing the Gap grants scheme for Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and Aboriginal businesses.
The grants program comprises two streams, valued at $4.23 million each.
 
The Closing the Gap Aboriginal Strengthening Business Capacity Program will lead to improved employment outcomes, increased business growth and greater economic prosperity for Aboriginal people in NSW.
 
This is the first time Aboriginal Affairs has directly supported Aboriginal businesses and comes under the NSW Government’s 2021-22 Closing the Gap Implementation Plan. Under the plan, Priority Reform 5 directs support for Aboriginal businesses through NSW Government procurement as well as directly funding Aboriginal business growth.
 
Grants of up to $50,000 for strengthening business capacity and up to $200,000 to assist businesses scale-up are available.
 
As part of the CTG Grants program, applications have also opened for Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to apply for one-off funding to improve outcomes for Aboriginal communities across NSW.
 
Grants in this category are available for up to $50,000 for strengthening organisational capacity and up to $200,000 to grow and expand under the $4.23 million funding stream.
 
This program reflects Priority Reform 2, to build and support the Aboriginal community-controlled sector.  Priority Reform 2 aims to better direct money towards programs and areas where Aboriginal communities will see the greatest benefits.

Construction Branch is seeking an Assistant Planner to support City Standards, Traffic Network Services (TNS) team with scheduled capital works projects for council’s traffic signals network, ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) and lighting assets.

 About the position

 As Planner, you will be a member of a small team and will support TNS by:

 Monitoring scheduled works and, in collaboration with the Senior Planner, identifying and actioning Traffic Management requirements for planned construction works.

·         Generating Work orders and Purchase orders to support accurate cost capture in SAP.

·         Maintaining project plans and project documentation in Records Manager through the life of each project

·         Undertaking a range of administrative tasks including project schedule updates, Dial Before You Dig requests, creating work packages for field teams etc.

·         Assisting other planners with workload in specific work activities as required.

 About you

 You want to work in a committed small team environment that achieves results and considers the customer in everything we do

·         You have demonstrated ability to identify key work activities and issues in a construction environment.

·         You have the interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively to achieve outcomes with managers, suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders.

·         You have proven, or the ability / willingness to learn administrative skills to effectively utilise computer systems, Apps and programs including Microsoft Suite, SAP (including AWM) and Microsoft Project Professional and deliver results in a project-based work environment.

To be eligible to apply you must meet the following criteria: For salaried roles, applications can be accepted from: permanent employees; temporary employees who have been employed for a minimum of six months; people employed as temporary employees through a Community Jobs Program/Work Placement; casual employees who have had the equivalent of six months full-time employment; and external applicants for internally advertised Band 2 to 4 vacancies from the Indigenous communities and the Disability Community Network (Equity and Diversity Networks). Labour hire (agency contractors) are not eligible to apply for TV6 roles.
