FW: ( S.A. ) Neporendi Community Engagement Project

Us mob at Neporendi Aboriginal Forum Incorporated are currently undertaking program planning and engagement activities to help inform and guide our efforts to ensure the programs, services and activities we provide are relevant and meaningful to our southern Adelaide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We are also seeking feedback from our community around the potential of offering programs and services from different locations. Our program planning and engagement activities will continue until 31 January 2022.

An online survey and further information on the engagement activities can be found on the Your Say website. A link to the hard copy survey/flyer is below for those wishing to complete and send to us via post (address below). But we encourage participants to complete the online survey, if possible.

FW: ( S.A. ) I Construct Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pre-Apprenticeship Program – construction industry – 4 week program

Wednesday, 19 January 2022

I Construct Pre-Apprenticeship Program

This course is designed to prepare Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants for opportunities through the SA Housing Authority’s 250 Apprenticeships Program.

MEGT, SA Housing Authority, PEER and Believe Indigenous Contracting have partnered to create a four-week introduction to the construction industry during January and February 2022.
If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and are keen to learn a building and construction trade, then ‘I Construct’ could be for you!

What is ‘I Construct’?
‘I Construct’ is an Adelaide based pre-apprenticeship program that includes:

  • Accredited training modules covering bricklaying, plastering, painting, tiling and carpentry.
  • An Individual Training and Support Plan (ITSP)
  • Pre-employment, employment and cultural awareness training.
  • Specialised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mentoring and support.

Once completed, successful candidates will be considered for apprenticeships within the SA Housing Authority’s 250 Apprenticeships Program and with other employers.
The units completed as part of ‘I Construct’ will count toward this qualification, so you can reach your goal faster.
How can I get involved?
To be eligible you must:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible visa holder
  • Be aged 16 or over and not enrolled in school
  • Hold a car or motorbike driver’s licence or learner’s permit
  • Be motivated and committed to working in the construction industry

What else is included?

  • Your own set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Police clearances
  • Drug and alcohol testing and support
